I have try every way I know how to download the videos from youtube but I got nothing. I will not give up. This will be my last blog for this class since time is running out and I did not complete the task. I will make it a point to enroll in this class if it open next summer I will take it and complete it.

This is what 23 Things look like when you come down to the last minute and try to do it. I am a member to just one network site. That is this one. But think I will try to be apart of more as the year goes by. I think I am going to start one for our co-hort class of 2010. I think that would be lots of fun to have. A few of the networks were interesting to me but, last.fm was very fun appealing to me. I will use last.fm later I even plan to find some music that I can use in the classroom for the students to listen to it.

Check me on myspace.com. I have not yet put up anything but look for updates later. These sites are very important, because it can give you a chance to see how your friends are doing as well as your students from the past. It is important to know how social networks work because so many of our students are on them now. This is how we can learn what is important to the students and even our co-workers. It also can help us when we need to know more about people in the news. I tried myspace.com because it was the most popular site and easy to navigate. I can how it ca be used in libraries as a research tool.

I have a del.icio.us account from another online class. I have been using it for a short while. I do like it better then the other ways of bookmarking so far. There is great potential for this tool. Research is just one way. When using it as a research tool, Libraries/librarians can take advantages of this social bookmarking site. They can see where other librarians have bookmarked other sites on a subject that maybe you may not have looked up. I plan to use it more as I get use to it.

For thing 16 I used iGoogle for my customized start page. It was easy it only took about 3 seconds if that long. The things that appealed to me was it was colorful, easy to use and set up, and it looks fun. I would consider making this a permanent home page. I can lots of uses for the online calendars. It can be useful to me like I stated in an earlier blog, my family will be able to keep up with me and I with them if they use it. I have sen it work. My husband uses an online calendar on his job and it has cut down on some conflict of appointments and meetings being made. The to-do-list could be helpful yes it is a lot of work but it is worth it if you do it right and use it. I will use the online calendar both at work and at home. This is a very useful tool to have.

This was indeed a fun assignment.I saw how Wikis can be helpful. The way librarians can use it like posting book reviews for students and staff to read. If they do this it will allow the librarians to do something else in the library. Teachers and students can read the reviews on the computer and the librarian update it weekly. I set up an account which was very easy to do. I found the wikis interested because you can brainstorm with others that are not in the same place as you are. Working in Wikis can be hard if you don't read them daily. It can be used in the classroom as a way to check the writing of the students.

This one assignment that I was really up to doing. I can't see how I can use it the classroom only thing I can see is using it as maybe a lesson plan chart. The different that I can see in the two is that flowchart can be used to chart the lesson plan. Mind mapping can help me brainstorming of lessons. I looked at all of the sites and I liked Gliffy for flowchart and Bubbl.us for the mind mapping.

Please see Test doc for Things 23. It worked this is a great tool image being able to write things in a word document and share it with others across town or country. I can use this as a way to improve on our family newsletter that we have talked about doing. Now we can add to our document without waiting for e-mails to be read and corrected.

I have tried to some other things but it didn't work to well. I am trying to post it as a bog if it works ALRIGHT! If not you will read about in the blog.

Google is not just a search tool. After looking at each of the tools that we had to look at. I explored the calendar and notebook tool. Now I can use the calendar. How neat is it to have access to your life on-line wherever you go. I don't have a blackberry but I do have a lap top that I can use and I can now put my calendar on line and share it with my family members that have access to the Internet. My sons and husband will love to see when I have class or not since I am in school. It can also help me keep up with my busy life also. The notebook was the other tool that I looked at I am so looking forward to using it during the school year for both the classroom and in my personal class. Being able to put notes from article off the Internet instead of printing the whole article is great. It can also work in the classroom with students doing research papers or more.

OMG, So many search tools, So many RSS feeds. I really did get nervous about this assignment. I looked at four search tools for RSS feeds. The one I liked the most was Technorati. I know that it was not the one I have an account with. I liked this one because it was an easy outline, and read. I can navigate it better. Blogline and Google Blog are tied for second in line for me. Then Topix search tool was good and my third choice. To me Google was confusing for me. I found some useful feeds that can help me with some activities in the classroom for the school year. I got a lot of ideas for my classroom set up for this year also. There were ways to find feeds I find that in Google by typing in a subject you could get just the things relating to that subject. This is another assignment I spent almost four hours on.

The things I like about RSS are they are really simple to use and apply to my reader. I like the idea of have my news updates readily to read and see daily. I see how it can be very useful in the classroom for the teacher to use. I can be used as an news update to show what is going on in the world. Students, teachers, and other users can read updated news reports and comment on the story. I my personal life I can almost take the place of the newspaper. RSS can be used by the teachers in the classroom when the teacher has marked the sites they want, then the computer can be set up as an reading center.

These are just a few of the images I liked. It was really fun to look for the different images to work with. I can see a lot of things that they can be used for. Students in the classroom will get a kick out of looking for images that can represent them on their blogs. I really had a hard time leaving this site. I can't wait to get more images to use on my blogs.

This is another word for peaceful. It is also the name of my grandchild. She is the apple of both her Nana and Papaw. She really makes our day when we see her. These letters show the many moods of Serenity. This is the happy mood of Serenity. I can see how this can be used a tool for the students to show their creativeness. I can see using flickr mashups in my personal blog to make it more appealing to the readers. I love being able to share pictures online . My sister-in-law and I take pictures at our husband's family reunion then we compile them to make a side show for the rest of the family to see. Now we can do this without taking up so much space and time doing it by e-mail we can just pull them from the Flickr. Plus it is saving space for things we would like to do on the computer.

I created an account for Flickr. It was very easy to do. I explored the site as well. It has some lovley pictures and I hope to use them from time to time as I blog my friends and family. It was easy uploading the pictures from my computer and as time goes by I will upload more of my family pictures. I think that it a good way to keep pictures of things that the students do in the classroom, as well as family pictures and I can see how I will keep most of the pictures taken at our family reunions. My sister -in - law and I are working on video of this year's reunion and I have already e-mailed her my flickr address. I will use Flickr as away to show the parents what we are doing in the classroom on the blog I plan to do this year. It was hard for me to upload to my blog as you can see.

WOW! I have spent almost all day on one site. That site was last.fm. It was all about music and more. I liked the site it gave chooses of music that I have not heard since I was in high school. I enjoyed seeing some of the video that went with the music. I disliked the fact that you have to have at least 15 items in your library before you can play your music. The application that I see you can use it in the classroom is when the students are doing a power point they can use music they have downloaded in their account. To use in the power point. I really loved this site.

In this world of new technology. We can do lots of things on line. We find telephone numbers and address to places. We can book hotel reservations and find fun places to go and do. Web 2.0 is a great tool for learning and education. After reading the perspectives for this item. I must agree that it has made the world flat. We as educators must be willing to use technology to bring the world into our classroom for the students. School 2.0 is needed and should be used to make this possible. In the future schools and libraries will make a big difference for all. It is up to all of us to ensure that the students are exposed to the technology that can help the students reach the knowledge they need in the future to grow in the use of Web 2.0.

Thing #4

Commenting is very important to the blogging world. It helps to build the community of the blogger. It also helps the blogger know that someone is reading theirs thoughts and concerns. It is scary to know that I am opening myself up to my thoughts and concerns. Someone may feel the same way and can tell me their thoughts and concerns. But I can see how it is important because what I am doing is letting you know that I can about what you think and what are your concerns. I like to think of leaving a comment like an answering machine for the phone. Leave a comment and I will get back to you soon.
I looked at some of the blogs not only in our class but some of the suggested blogs to look at. After looking at coolcatteacher and brown thoughts I got lots of reasons way commenting is important. Then I took a look at some of the class blogs. WOW! from music list to slide shows they were great. As I spend more on my blog and learn more I plan to step out of my box and do more to my blog with out fear. I think that fear is what hold a lot of us back from trying new things. AMShisteacher,Autism Teacher's Connection,D' Corner, Gigiread (wow love the little ladybug.), ictbaily, and Kiberly's Corner (OMG a play list and everything. This makes me want to work on my fears there is so much I want to share.)

Thing #3 Registering your Blog

I think so far this has been the easiest thing I have done. If everything else is this easy than I will not have much problems during the rest of the tasks. I am really enjoying the things I have learned so far. I can see how this can be used in the classroom. What a good way to keep parents informed about what is going on in the classroom. I am looking forward to doing just that. I think that the parents will enjoy seeing and reading what is going on in the classroom. Also, being able to comment and communicate with other parents in the class.

Boy oh boy this has been an challenge to overcome for me. Setting up this blog was not easy for me. I didn't think I was doing it right so now I have two blogs. But I could only register one. Go figure. I know how to put in the avatars now but I like the baby picture better. I can only hope that I have done everything right. I decided to use the name bbmom as a posting name because it reminds me of my children. The name for my blogs tell just who I am. I just want to know one thing can any body tell me how to put both a picture and an avatar on my blog? I picked this avatar because I really like to cook for my family and friends. I look forward to the holidays. That is when I really can do my thing.

After viewing a few pointers from lifelong learners. and the 71/2 habits. It was somethings that I really needed to know and use. The easiest habit is setting goals. The hardest habit is viewing problems as challenges. I plan to work and all the habits and make things work for me.
